About Malta & Gozo
The Maltese Archipelago is situated in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, just 100 kilometers south of Sicily, and consists of three main islands: Malta, Gozo and Comino.
Malta is the largest, giving its name to the archipelago. Valletta, the capital city, is the cultural, and commercial centre of the island, and is also renowned worldwide for its splendid fortifications and natural harbors in the Mediterranean. The second island, Gozo, is smaller, quaintly attractive and topographically quite different, having a population of 28,000, while Comino is effectively uninhabited and a nature reserve.
With a rich and varied history dating back over 6,000 years, and having some of the oldest permanent structures on the planet, the Maltese Islands and the Maltese people have been a melting pot for many empires and cultures over the millennia.
Nowadays, excellent international travel connections, a vibrant economy and incentives to industry have made Malta a great place to live and do business - with all the advantages of a Mediterranean lifestyle amongst people renowned for their hospitality and friendly nature.
